Change your Computer Name

1- Right click on "My Computer", choose "Properties".
2- Select "Computer Name" tab. Change the "Computer Description" to include your name like "Eleni Marcos PC", then click "OK".

Warning: editing the Windows Registry can be dangerous and could result in corrupting the entire Windows system unless you know what you are doing. Please make a backup of it before doing anything. See how to "Backup Windows registry".

Change the registered user and company names

1- Launch the Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
2- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version
3- Locate and double-click the RegisteredOwner value, change to your name e.g. "Eleni Marcos".
4- Locate and double-click the RegisteredOrganization value, change to "My Company Name".
5- Close the Registry Editor and restart Windows XP in order for the changes to take effect.

Change user and company names for Windows Installer (when you run Setup)

1- Launch the Registry Editor (regedit.exe)
2- Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MS Setup (ACME)\User Info
3- Locate and double-click the DefName value, change to your name e.g. "Eleni Marcos".
4- Locate and double-click the DefCompany value, change to "My Company Name".
5- Close the Registry Editor

Change user name and initials in MS Office applications

Office 2003:
1- Choose "Tools Options".
2- Select "User Information", change "User" and "Initials", e.g. "Eleni Marcos" and "EM".

Office 2007:
1- Click on Office button, choose "... Options", for example "Word Options".

2- In "Popular" category, change "User name" and "Initials", e.g. "Eleni Marcos" and "EM".
